Dave Lumb (ESA) - The LOFT Mission - Status at ESA

The status of the LOFT assessment study within the ESA Cosmic Visions programme will be
presented. The assessment studies for all M3 proposals include an internal ESA assessment
and design activity within the Concurrent Design Facility, which concludes with a baseline
design to be elaborated by parallel competitive industry activities. The results of the internal
CDF activity for LOFT will be reported, highlighting key issues for development and trade-offs.
Programmatic assumptions for the future adoption of a successful M3 mission concept will be
mentioned.
