Dacheng Lin (IRAP Toulouse, France) Study of Neutron-Star Low-mass X-ray Binaries with LOFT Studies of X-ray binaries can achieve the best results by combining timing and spectral information. LOFT will make such studies unprecedentedly effectively, with its capability to observe bright X-ray sources at high timing and spectral resolutions, large effective area, and broad energy band pass. We show that LOFT can obtain the relation of the kilo-Hertz qausi-periodic oscillation vs. the inner disk radius, from both the relativistic Fe line and the disk continuum emission, in neutron-star low-mass X-ray binaries. This relation is critical for understanding the origin of kHz QPOs and the model for the equation of state of the dense matter.
